As a kid, Trey Cloud's father made him mow the grass of the football field at Wesleyan Christian School.

Cloud, now the head coach at Southwest Covenant, will return to that same field in Bartlesville on Friday to face off with the his former chore giver.

Class C Southwest Covenant will take on Class B Wesleyan Christian on Friday, marking the third time Trey Cloud has gone against his dad Curt Cloud.

The series standing between father and son is currently even at 1-1.

"It's going to be fun," Trey Cloud said. "It'll be a homecoming of sorts for me since that's the school I went to. But we are really looking forward to it."

The family ties run deep at Southwest Covenant. This year, the Patriots are transitioning at quarterback to Ben Webb, the younger brother of Sam Webb who quarterbacked the team for the past three years before graduating in 2018.

Through two games, Ben Webb has helped Southwest Covenant to two blowout victories against Central and Empire.

Trey Cloud said Webb, who missed big chunks of the past two years due to injury, has been helped out by outstanding offensive line play from TJ Riggs as well as three new starting lineman in Bryce Kelch, Andrew Hickman and Jessi Deason.

"When your older brother is a stud it's hard to know what kind of pressure it will be for a guy," Cloud said. "But he's stepped in that role and really owning it."
